PEKANBARU - Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) received an award for environmentally friendly technology initiatives in the oil and gas industry, at the 1st National Young Engineer Riau (Mayer) Award Night, in Pekanbaru, Saturday (24/8/2024). The award was received by the Vice President for Operational Excellence-Health, Environment & Safety (VP OE-HES) Sanggam Silaen.

The same event also awarded PHR’s Officer, Karnoto Gondo Suwandiko as an inspirational engineer in the field of environmental technology innovation and environmental engineering. The 1st Mayer Award was given by the Young Engineers Forum of the Indonesian Engineers Association (FIM-PII) Riau Region.

"PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan is considered to have been a pioneer in adopting and developing technology that reduces environmental impacts in oil and gas operations. These innovations cover various aspects, from exploration, production, to processing, all of which are designed to minimize carbon footprints and pollution," said Chairman of the Young Engineers Forum of the Indonesian Engineers Association (FIM-PII) Riau Ulul Azmi, Saturday (24/8/2024).

As one of the largest oil and gas companies in Indonesia, PHR shows a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. This initiative includes the application of energy efficiency technology, better waste management, and wiser use of resources in oil and gas operations.

"Apart from focusing on environmentally friendly operations, Pertamina Hulu Rokan also contributes to improving the quality of the environment around the operational area. This includes corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs that focus on environmental preservation and educating the public about the importance of sustainability," he continued.

The fact that PHR has been successful in putting cutting-edge technology into practice, which permits more effective and sustainable management of natural resources, is another factor. PHR contributes to ensuring that natural resource extraction is done responsibly by incorporating eco-friendly technologies into their corporate operations.

In addition, the initiatives carried out by PHR in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the use of clean energy have had a positive impact on the environment. This shows the company's role in supporting global efforts to reduce the impact of climate change.

PHR officer Karnoto Gondo Suwandiko also received an award as an inspirational engineer in the field of environmental technology innovation and environmental engineering. Together with other selected engineers, Karnoto, who currently carries out his duties as Senior Chief of Fire Minas, is considered to have provided inspiration for his dedication and contribution, especially in the field of engineering in the oil and gas industry in building the nation.

"This award is not only a form of recognition of achievements but also a motivation for young engineers to continue working and contributing to the nation and state," he said.

The 1st Riau Young Engineer Award Night (MAYER) took place in Pekanbaru with the theme, Young Engineers Building a Nation from the Earth Malay Lancang Kuning for the Archipelago, Increasing Competitiveness Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.
