PT RAPP and UMRI Planted Thousands of Trees

PEKANBARU-Mayor of Pekanbaru Firdaus MT attend a tree planting event on the campus of the University of Muhammadiyah Riau II (UMRI) Nangka Rd at the back of the mall SKA Pekanbaru, Thursday (3/1/2013). This event is part of activities to support the program the Ministry of Forestry (MoF) in plant 1 billion trees supported by PT.Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP) which is a unit of Asia Pacific Recources International Limited (APRIL).
The event, themed 'One Tree Save the Earth' is, initiated by the Student Association UMRI. Attended by Municipal Government Pekanbaru, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) RAPP Amru Mahali, Rector of UMRI Prof Dr H Mohammad Diah MEd, and staff, as well as university students UMRI.
Mayor of Pekanbaru utter his gratitude to UMRI who initiated this tree planting event. Also the management of PT RAPP who has been providing tree seedlings to be planted at UMRI campus location.
'' Thank you to the students who have initiated UMRI tree planting, as well as the PT RAPP are expressed, they are a plant that can not survive (operating, red) when not planting (trees, red). We expect that future tree growers keep doing more,'' said the mayor Pekanbaru Firdaus MT, Thursday (3/1) in the Campus II UMRI Pekanbaru.
The mayor also added that the movement to plant 1 billion trees which are fully supported by PT RAPP is very positive in supporting the expansion of green open space (RTH) in Pekanbaru that is still relatively small.
Meanwhile, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) RAPP Mahali Amru said that one billion tree planting event is a form of RAPP concern for the environment, the campuses and the schools in Riau.
In addition, the campus and the school, is where the young generation who would run the country with the pattern of thought. ''They are agents of change'', he said.
'' Not only campuses in Riau, but also schools we have intertwine cooperation in launching tree planting 1 billion. During 2012, RAPP has started planting trees over 73 thousand trees''.
Of 2,500 tree seedlings donated RAPP on this occasion, including the seed type Matoa, Ketapang, Eucalyptus, and other fruit tree seedlings. (Yus)
